The man burst out laughing, completely ignoring her attempts to move him. "I normally don't go to such lengths, but you questioned my abilities," he said simply, as if that excused himself. When she gave up he began cleaning the dishes, smiling as he continued. "Well, besides immortality, the hypnosis, and the whole me actually being a big snake thing, I'm pretty average."
Monty shrugged, scrubbing a plate. "I don't mind, though; I'm quite happy with what I've been dealt."

She laughed a little as he called himself average. "I think that's a bit above average, really. At least where I'm from." She moved past him to dry the clean dishes again. She covered her mouth to yawn and shrugged. "But I'm glad you're happy."
Laurel lost herself in thought momentarily before shaking her head.
"So...what else have you seen around Bridgeport?" she was curious if he'd seen first-hand anything else. She wasn't the most imaginative person but there were certainly good and bad things, whatever they were. It might benefit her to be at least semi-aware of that.

Monty smiled, glancing over and catching her yawn. He pondered the time as he handed her a dish, then committed himself to getting out of her hair after he was done with his current chore.
"Well, I've seen a few things in the woods. Odd mixtures of animals, I'm not certain what they'd be called... A few lizard creatures that I'm pretty sure had some similarities to dragons. I've heard a few howls from wolves that shouldn't really be in the area..." He finished another dish and passed it off. "But most of the oddities stay inside the city, I believe. Fish-people, demons, vampires, a delightful girl who I haven't figured out yet, but she makes some of the best candied fruit I've had in, well, ever."
While he'd seen a few, most of his sightings were more guessing and speculation than anything else. He hadn't realized it, however, until now. Perhaps he should bump into those individuals in a similar manner to Laurel. It would be nice to be around more monsters.

Laurel's slightly shocked expression returned as he listed what he'd thought he'd seen around the city. "Huh. Wonder why there are so many here." Certainly, there were some weird crimes and murders that happened around town but nothing she'd really attributed to being supernatural. Before, she just thought that maybe the police force was underfunded and lacked whatever they needed to solve any of those issues. Having a sibling who was a city officer certainly showed her the difference between the two places.
"I guess I don't pay enough attention." She should. She was one of them.

"Obviously this is a good place for them, either no one's caught on to us existing or they're just okay with it," Monty replied. He did enjoy this city for that reason, there were a lot of nonhumans and still things were copacetic.
He chuckled, patting her head with a damp hand before realizing it was wet and wiping it on his pants quickly. "You haven't needed to pay attention, so how would you all of a sudden assume there were such creatures sneaking around?" Finishing the last dirty dish, he handed it to Laurel and wiped his hands, leaning against the counter with one hip. "Well, despite how enjoyable your company is, I think it'd be best to call it a night."

"Maybe..." It bothered her more now that she had been specifically recommended to Bridgeport, and she wondered what her doctor knew and wasn't telling. Not knowing that upset her more than the fact that she wasn't the only different one, and that were many sorts of creatures here in Bridgeport. In fact, she could be neighbours with the boogie man and that wouldn't bother her as much as the specific recommendation, You should move to a nice, quiet little place, like Bridgeport. It's on the coast, off of the number 18. I think it connects to highway 32, as well, if I remember correctly...
"Hm?" she looked up again as he put his hand on her head and frowned slightly; she wasn't really vain but she didn't like her hair to be touched, either. "Well...ah, doesn't matter, I guess..."
She smiled shyly as he said her company was enjoyable. When his initial attitude had been rude and arrogant, even, she was quite pleased to know she made a friend. "Alright...I guess it is getting late." She gave a slight shrug. "I'll stop by your place when I get back, and we'll have to make some time for me to make a real meal," Laurel promised him.

Monty watched her expressions as she went about things, not certain what was wrong, but smiled when she did. "Yes, we will; I'll look forward to seeing you again."
He glanced over her once more, then pushed off the counter and went to his pile of clothes and candy. He began layering himself for the cold outdoors, then picked up his bags and turned to look at her if she'd followed him. "I truly enjoyed this evening, Laurel, and I'm glad we bumped into each other, even though... Well... Even though I was a jerk, you know."

Laurel trailed after him to the door, sticking both hands in her pockets. She watched him layer up again for the cold and bit the inside of her lip, not sure if she really had anything else to say. There were a lot of firsts tonight.
"I won't hold it against you," she promised him, teasingly, "But I'm glad too." Noting his hands were full, she moved to get the door for him.
"Well, um...guess I'll see you later."
((ooc: shall we call this the end?))

Monty smiled, mumbling another farewell before he headed out of the apartment and towards the exit of the building. Off to late night movies and more Pay-Per-View.
(( I think we shall! Good stuff. :3 ))
