Name/Nickname:
Loretta, Lorie to those who are close to her
Age:
As a human, she looks about 25, which is how old she was before she started showing gorgonish tendencies. Now as she ages she will be showing more and more of those, instead of turning into an elderly human.
Gender:
Female
Height:
5'8"
Weight:
180 lbs
Alignment:
Currently has good intentions, but those will fade as the years go by.
Affliction:
A gorgon- current traits of which include but are not limited to:
Hair turning into golden snakes- each one has its own distinct personality, and one of them is backwards. And yes, they do eat small things. One time one of them ate her keys and she had to get a spare made. They listen to her for the most part, but they tend to get out of control if her emotions do. For this reason she's been attempting to study meditation, so that people don't freak out when her hair starts hissing whenever she gets mad in public. Oh, and she tried cutting them off when they first popped in, but that didn't work- the effort of cutting the first one left her exhausted and near death while it grew back.
Fingernails getting all claw-like- not especially important, but it gets annoying when she tries to type. Can come in handy for peeling oranges.
Stone-vision- remember how the basilisk in Harry Potter killed everyone who looked directly into its eyes? It's the same with her, except that they turn into lovely stone statues instead of just dying. The poor thing had a statue garden in her backyard before moving to Bridgeport, including her pet dog, the mailman, her sister, her boyfriend, and a teacher. She's learned that wearing sunglasses helps. She has a massive guilt complex about all these folks in the meantime.
Monster form- As Loretta ages, she undergoes a transformation to become a creepy gorgon super-monster. The summarized version is seen in the upper right corner there, with winglies and creepy claw things and a snakey neck and tail and unhingeable fanged jaw.
Nationality:
She is of meditteranian descent, but is 101% American if you ask.
Occupation:
Loretta works in the lighthouse in the northern tip of Bridgeport, tending to the light and caretaker duties of the surrounding beach. This keeps her busy and away from any people whom she might hurt. It also provides her with a little privacy, so she can let her "hair" down once in a while.
Skills and Abilities:
Seems to have a knack for "sculpture"... Also used to be quite handy with weaving, knitting, crocheting, ect, but now her claws tend to get in the way.
Weaknesses:
Decapitation, mirrors
Relationships:
She left all of her remaining relationships behind when she moved to Bridgeport, and has yet to make any new ones.
She is starting to almost become fond of her right front snake, a friendly little fellow with brown length-wise stripes who seems to care for her mental well-being. She's considering naming him Henry.
There is a strange monster that keeps digging holes in her area of the beach, but Loretta has yet to confront her.
Personality:
Loretta used to be outgoing and fun-loving, very sweet towards others. She loved learning about music and other cultures, and would often dress in fun clothing.
But nowadays she is shy and keeps to herself, very much afraid to have too much interaction with the people around her, for their own sake. She may start to open up to others and try to enjoy life again before she loses too much of her mind. She hates her affliction to no end.
Appearance:
History:
Loretta used to live in sunny California. After earning a Master's from Berkeley, she moved in with her boyfriend and they were living happily together for a few years until her gorgonish tendencies showed up. Apparently this is some family curse that has been going on for generations, and Loretta is only thankful that she found out about it before passing it on to any children of her own.
After severing all ties with the few surviving relationships in her hometown, she moved to Bridgeport to live out the rest of her days in hopes that she would kill no more.
