Name/Nickname:
“Swarm”
Age:
Apparent Age: Around 7 or 8
Actual Age: Unknown
Gender: Genderless
Height: 4’1”
Weight: Unknown (You try weighing something that seldom touches the ground)
Alignment: NN
Affliction: Shapeshifter/Immortal (Wildcard)
Nationality: The otherworld
Occupation: N/A
What do they do for a living: Seeker of Knowledge (Upon which it feeds)
Skills and Abilities:
- True Shapeshifter (Can take on any form, be it animal, vegetable or mineral. But it’s limited to the size of it’s swarm, which isn’t particularly large)
- Stealth
- Gather information
- Damage reduction/immunity – Actual weapons don’t do much against the Swarm, it simply breaks apart and reforms again as the weapon passes through it.
Weaknesses:
- Fire
- Bug spray
- Naive – The Swarm acts young, it’s time on this earth has been short and it has much to learn.
- Child form – While this is useful for gaining trust, it does limit the places the Swarm can go without getting trouble.
Relationships:
None currently
Personality:
Inquisitive, the Swarm actively seeks out information, feeding off of knowledge apparently.
Quiet (In the sense that it seldom raises it’s voices and tends to stick to a calm, level tone) and at times very polite, the Swarm acts much like it’s human form suggests, young.. very very young. Isn’t that it’s childish, more child-like. There’s a sort of innocence to the creature who truly doesn’t understand basic things like personal space and privacy.
It asks a lot of questions, often several at once, making it difficult to understand.
Speech:
The swarm speaks as many, as one. Thousands of individual voices, old, young, male and female, speaking in almost unison… most of the time.
Appearance:
The Swarm is, in reality, a large swarm of tiny insects.
However, being a natural shapeshifter, it’s adopted a favoured form, that of a child.
Young, white haired, and androgynous, the child appears to be around 7 years old and dresses in plain grey robes that are far too large. Its eyes betray it’s true nature however, totally black and shimmering in the light like the carapace of a beetle. Its skin in ashen in tone, its light hair shaggy and layered, falling in waves down the nape of its neck and framing its rounded face. Its features are wide, flattened, its eyes set slightly too far apart. Slender and somehow elegant, the creature seems to glide rather than walk.
History:
What led the Swarm to Earth is a mystery, even to the creatures themselves. They seek one they refer to only as their “Queen” though getting any further information out of it/them is like pulling teeth.
It’s time before coming to Earth is a blur, countless thoughts and memories too vague and incoherent to be put into words. The hive mind as a whole, is young, but individuals have existed for centuries. The end result is a muddled being prone to talking to itself and at time arguing.
It’s motives beyond searching for this “Queen” are unclear. It claims it came to Bridgeport to learn.
It finds the other supernatural beings fascinating, which, for a creature who's sole purpose seems to be to gather information, makes them an infinite source of nourishment.
The longer the swarm stays amongst the "mortals" the more fascinated it becomes, slowly beginning to mimic them in an effort to be more "human"
Despite its shapeshifting ability, the swarm lacks any real knowledge of human interaction and gladly soaks up any knowledge of such matters ravenously. Slowly perfecting it's disguise.
What purpose this disguise serves is anyone’s guess. Though the Swarm doesn’t seem to bear any ill intent toward anyone, it’s simply here to study.
Anything Else:
It’s a shapeshifting swam of bugs, what do you want me to say?
