The water sizzled as it splashed on him, and he immediately released Hailey’s tail. That was a relief. Water could stop this thing. But then, the demon turned, holding a smoldering chunk of wood -sh*t, that end-table came with the apartment . He seemed just as startled as she was – he stared at it for a minute before shouting "WHAT? NO, NOT YET! DAMN YOU PASTE!" as it erupted into flames, the smoke trailing up to the detectors and the sprinklers on her ceiling.
Laurie could hear her neighbors – mostly the ones upstairs - cursing incredulously as the fire alarm went off. Seconds later, she echoed them as her sprinklers gurgled and spat their grungy contents all over her apartment.
Phil was standing over the flailing demon, screaming Latin, holding a crucifix, doing his best exorcist impression. Jeff stood by Phil’s side, mop at the ready in case the boy’s exorcism attempt failed. The entire room filled with the sickening smell of charred flesh.
How the HELL did one late band practice lead to this?!
Laurie slumped against the wall, grabbed at her scalp, screamed through gritted teeth. One good, long scream of frustration and confusion.
That was a little better. Now to make this whole thing work. She took a deep breath to regain what little snatches of composure she had left, and shouted over the screeching of the alarm.
“Okay, you guys. Out. Out while he’s distracted. Hailey. Hailey, you okay? Hailey,” The girl was in her natural form, soaking up the sprinkler water. Laurie stumbled over to her and shook dripping locks of hair from her eyes. “Can you manage human right now, because I’m pretty sure you being in the same room with this guy isn’t a good idea.”
She ran to let a dejected Cujo out of his kennel before heading to the door, herself. Cujo attempted a squeakily menacing growl at the demon as he trotted after Laurie. “Cut-,“ she began, trailing off. She turned and stared, overwhelmed, betrayed and thoroughly confused, at who she had understood to be her friend. Not yet? Damn you, Paste? “What the…what the HELL, Cut…?!”

The Cut creature flailed about, steam rising from his body as the water sprinkled onto his body. He then began to punch himself, his arms in conflict with each other as the creature yelled out.
Then something strange happened, if you blinked you would have missed it. Like a quick hidden frame on a film reel, Cut's image flickered to the image of a shorter white haired man. "LET MY BROTHER GO" the cut creature yelled, but his voice was different, it was Paste's. At each impact the image flickered, the man's form flashing between Cut and Paste's.
Thwack, it was over, Cut's head was smashed into the hard windowsill and the body was lying lifeless on the floor next to it, his forehead bleeding. Yet, it was Paste's body lying passed out on the ground, not Cut's.

Laurie asked, no, ordered him and the others to get out, but there was just no way he would leave like this. Not until Hailey left, at least.
Phil flinched when the demon suddenly started to scream and flail. He looked like a madman, punching himself and screaming incoherencies. Let his brother go? What did he mean by that? Also, it somehow seemed as he was... changing.
Suddenly the creature toppled over and hit the floor, smacking his head into the windowsill on the way down. Phil waved the crucifix in his direction a few more times, but Cut didn't move. Something was wrong with him - if Phil didn't know any better he could have swore Cut had changed shape. Phil looked from his crucifix to the downed demon person. "Holy sh*t," he whispered quietly. He hadn't actually been sure it would work, but this... it had worked beyond expectations. Not realizing that Cut's breakdown probably had more to do with the sprinkler water than with any holy powers a 14 year old atheistic boy could amass, his grasp around the crucifix hardened.
He looked around the room to make sure everybody was okay, but before he could ask a hard, an angry knock could be heard on the door. Phil's heart skipped a beat. "This is Anderson from upstairs! What he hell is going on there?!" Good question. The floor was covered in sprinkler water and occupied by a wounded ciren and a downed demon, everybody looked shocked and the fire alarm was still screeching. Phil, who was closest to the door, answered. "Oh, uh... we're having a sleepover! Sorry for the noise, we'll try to keep it down!" Hopefully the shakiness in his voice wasn't as discernable as he thought it was. "A sleepover, huh?" the man asked suspiciously from the other side of the door. "Then why is the fire alarm ringing?" "Because, because... uh..." Phil looked at Hailey, Laurie and Jeff for help. He wasn't very good at bullshazting.

" because some idiot in here burn the pop corn now it stinks and the alarm wont go off give us a few minutes and we will get it to turn off" he answer him quickly and she reached up and fanned the alarm with her tail quickly. Pain shot through her body but she tried her best to stay quiet to stop the alarm which eventually died off leaving only bitter silence. Looking at phil she smiled weakly and sighed her body trembled slightly and she glared at the demon.

A loud CRACK and Paste, wearing Cut's slightly singed and baggy clothes, lay unconscious in the middle of Laurie's room. Nobody dared speak for a while. They only gaped. Even Laurie, who was dead set on putting as much distance between her and the demon as possible had to stop by the doorway, turn around and stare.
"Um...Phil? What exactly did you just do?" Phil barely had time to answer before one of her upstairs neighbors knocked on her door.
"Oh, uh... we're having a sleepover! Sorry for the noise, we'll try to keep it down!"
"Yeah, that was some...seven-AM dance party," Laurie added. She could hear how dumb it sounded, but the man seemed to accept it. She'd made more noise before. Her neighbor demanded to know why the fire alarm was ringing and Hailey covered awkwardly while fanning the alarm, saying they burned the popcorn. Laurie couldn't help but smirk at that...it was a good enough story.
It was a beat before Jeff noticed that her smirk was directed at him. He responded with an understated double-take. "Really, Laurie?" he hissed in a low voice.
"Just making it a little more believable," she shrugged.
"Yes. Fire. Because I burn stuff. Thank you." He rolled his eyes and cautiously squelched across the room to inspect the unconscious man, adding,"Speaking of burning stuff, who and what is this dude, anyway..." He settled on his haunches to look closer.
There was a pause and it took all Jeff had to not leap backwards in astonishment and shout. He settled for a strangled, incredulous shriek, instead.
"AND WHO'S THIS DUDE?!"
"That's...that's Cut's brother," Laurie offered, quietly agape, looking around at the others for some sort of explanation.
"Wait, what? Why is he HERE?!"
"I...I don't know, either!"
Jeff mumbled something; Laurie thought she heard a snip sounding like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Asshole, or something similar. She ignored that and faced the rest of them.
"Well, what do we do with him, guys? What...what do we DO?!"

Anderson from upstairs left. Phil looked out over the room in a similar way that Laurie had done - trying to measure the damage and figure out what to do next. Now that the demonic guy was out cold he turned against Hailey again. She was looking at him with a weak smile and he smiled back. It was good to see that she didn't seem to be dying anymore, but on the other hand getting attacked by a demon couldn't have done much to improve her health. He looked at her tail with a frown - the burn looked like it hurt a lot, and it was just one injury of many. He went over to her and pointed to the couch and said sternly: "Hailey. Rest. Seriously, I'm going to get some water for you and when I return you better not be standing up." Then he turned toward the kitchen, walking as fast as he could. It felt wrong to turn his back toward the whole scene but even a grade-schooler knew that there was no better first aid for burns then water.
He returned a moment later, carrying a pitcher and a bowl that were both filled with water. He arrived just in time to hear Laurie ask: "Well, what do we do with him, guys? What...what do we DO?!" "Oh, I can think of a few things I'd like to do with him, and the kindest thing would be to dump him in the lake," the kid growled between gritted teeth as he put down the pitcher next to Laurie. "But... you said he was you friend so maybe you won't approve. I say we tie him up, and make sure to use a rope that doesn't burn easily." He found an almost blood-free towel on the floor and soaked it in cold water. "Hailey, I'm going to cover your burn with this, okay?"

Hailey sighed heavily as she slithered slowly onto the couch, reluctanly following the youngers orders and layed there relaxing for the first time since she got into the apartment."......i dont care what you do with him but get him the HELL out of here!!" she hissed bitterly. In no mood to humor the younger persons in the room, Looking to phil she smiled and nodded" y..yeah carefully please" she sighed her voice squeaked slightly, she was so very tired.
