“Well then, please be careful not to damage the books. These are very old; they are not very easy to get, you know… And where the heck is Roi? It shouldn’t take this look to go to the bathroom!” Stella then went to the back room to see what Roi was up to and left Ryan to his reading.

Ryan kept an eye on Stella for a moment as she left. She was stating the obvious.. He was probably just going to buy this book anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered. Regardless, this book seemed like the right path. It had an illustration of a Serket hieroglyph with the symbol of the sun above her head. The information heavily implied Serket was greatly approving of healing people, something Ryan was not keen on. He hoped this didn't mean he had to become a doctor. He'd never be able to stand the whining he'd encounter daily. Tucking the book under his arm, he looked outside the bookshop where a few rays of sunshine were parting through the misty coastal clouds. He needed to get home. He didn't want to be stuck here all day.

Roi watched as Stella started towards the bathroom. He rushed back to the bathroom before she neared, slipping through the shadows and under the door. Stella knocked and and called out to him. “ROI COME OUT OF THERE !” Roi concentrated so he could solidify himself to his human form rather than his true one. First his legs, then his waist, and lastly his head. He opened the door and saw that Stella had her arms crossed with a rather unhappy look on her face. Roi had a blank expression. "What?” he asked. “It shouldn’t take that long to go to the bathroom” Stella said in an unpleased tone. “I wasn’t feeling well” he said. “Sure you weren't.” said stella “I don’t like that Ryan guy. I have an odd feeling about him” said Roi. “You are just mad because I gave him a job here. Now get back to that counter and do your job.” They left the back room together. Roi was mumbling to himself angrily in Japanese and Stella and a very sneaky smile behind his back as they walked.

Ryan had moved to the counter with a charming smile, shaking the book a little with his left hand. "Exactly what I was looking for. Would you ring me up?"

Roi then walked over to the counter and rung up Ryan, giving him the fakest smile ever because Stella was watching him the entire time as he made the sale. He then put the book in a plastic bag and handed it to him. “Have a nice day, sir.”

He nodded vaguely, leaning down to rest his elbows on the counter for a momentary heart-to-heart. With an intense expression, he looked at Roi and stated quietly, "There's two kinds of people in the world. Those who dayream, read manga during work hours, and get mad when you call them out on their flaws. Then there's the other kind who works hard, muscles ahead, and keeps ahead of the curve. Which one are you?" With a thoughtful glance of raised eyebrows, he leaned back, having imparted his wisdom. "YOU have a nice day." And he moved out of the store massaging his shoulder. It was getting a bit stiff and plated in the gleaming sunlight. Time to head home.
