Name/Nickname: Zelia (and Tobias) Christakos-Negulescu
Age: Appears to be in late teens, is actually fourty-five.
Gender: Female
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 120 lbs.
Alignment: Neutral Good, Tobias is Lawful Evil
Affliction: Zelia is your average, plain Jane, humdrum human. Only with an unborn vampiric fetus in her womb. Yeah.
Nationality: Greek-American
Occupation: Taxi Driver (for now, has had a sleu of jobs that she could never seem to keep)
Skills and Abilities: As a human, Zelia can't do much. She can cook, she can drive anything with four wheels with enough skill to put many race car drivers to shame, and she can categorize like nobody's business. With her son, Tobias, in on things, she's become very hard to kill, has quit aging, and can communicate and be controlled telepathically with the little parasitic fetus. Tobias also provides her with a faster than normal healing time, and the ability to sustain herself solely on blood for extended periods of time. When being controlled she feels no pain or exhaustion, and can take incredible amounts of abuse without tiring.
Weaknesses: Zelia lacks some of the hinderances humans have, but extensive or normally fatal wounds can immobilize her and she can in fact be killed. Even the least amount of sunshine can burn her skin without coverage and sunscreen, and she does not possess any superior strength or reflexes.
Relationships: Agnes and Jim Christakos (mother and father, deceased), Tobias Christakos (son and morality-lacking parasite that takes residence in her womb), Chelsea Finnel (cousin, lives a few towns away from Bridgeport), Donovan Negulescu (vampiric husband, location unknown), and Angeline Utkin (probably the only friend she has to date, lives in Bridgeport).
Personality: She's instinctively kind, with a dry sense of humor and a typically weary disposition. Zelia's an overall good person with a lot of bad inside her, and can't quite figure what she'd done to deserve all this. Tobias, however, is a downright evil sonofagun, with his only concern being his safety, and by extension his mother's. Luckily he doesn't always control her, and often delights in seeing her struggle to deal with the fact that at any moment he could seize her mind and do whatever he pleases. He rarely feels the need to feed, and so keeps it down to once every two weeks or so just so he can trouble her with the uncertainty as to when he'll strike again. Zelia is a bit distant, but if one gets past her prickly defenses she'll confide in them as much as she can, and often seeks comfort and help in any way, shape, or form.
Appearance: (character sheet) Small, delicate, and with the bulge of a woman somewhere between her second and third term of pregnancy. Curly black hair of shoulder length and a fair olive complextion, grey-brown eyes and a heart-shaped face. She has a tendency to bite her nails, and dresses in cheap, comfortable clothing like skirts and loose tops. Loves sweaters and pajama pants when relaxing, but rarely wears pants and active outfits unless doing extensive chores.
History: Zelia was your typical angsty, rebellious teenager. She snuck out without permission, experimented with drugs, fooled around with the wrong crowd, dropped out of school, and was starting to be a bit of a bad egg that had her parents at the end of their ropes. Until she met Donovan, that is. Donovan, for some strange reason, swept her off of her feet and changed her life completely. She straightened out and even started going to a community college for her GED thanks to him. Her parents were estatic, and adored the boy for his inexplicable ability to turn their daughter's life around. They even saw their daughter married to the seemingly perfect man, and things were really looking up for everyone. Then Zelia's life took another sudden turn, this time for the worse. The worst, as it were. Her parents died, the exact details of their death still unknown, and the poor girl didn't even have time to recover before she found out she was pregnant. The news, while not quite what she wanted, seemed okay and even positive as long as she had the man of her dreams to take care of her. But then he disappeared, and she was evicted. Her cousin, Chelsea, offered her shelter, and things putt-puttered around for a time before another curveball was sent her way. Complications with the pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage, and yet the fetus was not ejected. Nicks and scratches began to heal almost instantaneously, any bigger ailments took only a day or so to mend. She stopped growing sick, and unbeknownst to her quit aging. When the doctors attempted to extricate the corpse, which they believed was in danger of making the girl sick due to not being properly aborted, Zelia blacked out inexplicably. When she awakened, it was to corpses and blood covering herself and her clothing. Frightened and having no idea what happened, she fleed back to her relatives, only to be told by Chelsea that she couldn't harbor fugitives, whether she did or did not actually murder those people. Taking what cash Chelsea gave her, she rented a hotel room in the same town, and stayed in seclusion for a while, getting a meaningless job in order to sustain herself. It is there that she began to hear voices - murmers and whispers in her head - that talked with her and told her about their cravings for blood. Believing she was going insane, Zelia contacts a few therapists and psychologists anonymously, seeking help to no avail. The blackouts increased, and the voices grew more audible and competent. She then learned what was happening to her, from the very thing that was causing it. Tobias, as the fetus has named itself thanks to the perusing the possible names Zelia had been thinking about giving him before the trouble started, told her what he was and what he was doing to her. Horrified, and finding an explanation for the scars and string of murders on the television, she made the rash decision to try and get rid of her demon spawn. She nearly died tried to cut Tobias out, and he informed her that as punishment for trying to kill him she would now have the pleasure of being able to watch, helpless, as she killed for him. This went on for more than twenty years, until she moved to the small town of Bridgeport where she'd found an available apartment and the first of many in a long line of part-time jobs. Pizza delivery girl, librarian, movie rental clerk, store clerk, waitress, janitor; she'd tried it all and been let go for some reason or another. Somewhere during this she met what became her only close friend, a girl named Angeline who was also not-quite normal, and whose affliction actually aided her at times. Despite this, her son enjoys making things difficult and keeping his mother unhappy, and so the killings continue, though a lot less frequently now. Long history is long.
Anything Else:
- Tobias has continued to developed mentally and has the thought processes of a twenty-seven year old, but has not developed physically and cannot be independent of his mother.
- Tobias' telepathy only extends to his mother, so she is the only one he can communicate with and control.
- While on her own Zelia could survive on only regular food, with Tobias she must intake blood or they both will die. Of course, Tobias won't allow this and so it is a moot point.
